In Path of Exile, if you want to try a spark build because you have two of the hazardous research gems and that’s really the only reason why. you have no idea what uniques or gems you might pop in that have decent synergy with this, or what changes to passives you might do to improve on this. What should you do?
There are a few words of advice. Prioritize life over anything else in the game. Secondly you need to cap your elemental resistances (caps is 75% per elemental resistance by default, certain poe items and passive nodes can increase this).
In a softcore league you should aim between 150-175% increased life on the tree at an absolute minimum. Caster builds having such a close proximity to Mind Over Matter should take that as well to have additional mitigation.
Make sure you understand the difference between an Attack, and a Spell. If you have pathed through and selected a lot of attack nodes that will do absolutely nothing for your build.
Mind Over Matter (MoM). This is a non crit tree, that takes advantage of elemental overload. Spark is a great skill to go crit with, however the gear can be more expensive. regarding those jewels, one is really all you need. With spark, duration and pierce chance are a must for the play style to feel good. Each of those jewels reduced the duration of the spark, so using 2 of them will actually make the build suffer.
Spark does not scale from physical damage like Ethereal Knives or Blade Vortex. It is a pure spell/projectile that scales off of gem level, spell damage, projectile damage, elemental damage, and critical damage (global and for spells). The physical damage range on the weapon is irrelevant for scaling spark damage.
Also Juggernaut is possibly the absolute worse ascendancy to use for spark. My ranking would be 1) Templar – Inquisitor (crit) 2) Shadow – Assasin (crit) 3) Scion (multiple combinations here are viable) or 4) Witch – Elementalist (weakest imo). You can also watch some of the video guides where available. It will really help.
