Dungeon camping is a big problem right now. It needs to be fixed ASAP

I’m not sure if this is intended or a bug, but either way I believe it needs addressing.

Public dungeons (the ones marked by a little torch on your minimap) have a minor boss at the end of them which you kill to both finish the dungeon and get a good chance at receiving some nice loot. When I got to the end of the first one that I encountered in the second major zone of my alliance (in this case, Stormhaven) I encountered a giant pool of the boss’s corpses, with about 15 people huddled around them. I was bewildered for a few minutes, as I received notice of having completed the dungeon without really even realizing the person who just died around them was a boss, and without getting access to any loot (I did almost no damage to him).

I soon realized what was occurring and joined in on the festivities… the boss just keeps dropping loot for you from the same excellent loot table (usually a green, sometimes a blue, in this case) over and over again. After about 10 minutes, I had 7 or 8 copies of the exact same blue item.

This is not good, for a number of reasons:

  • People are camping these bosses, and it’s hard for anyone not ‘in the know’ and without massive DPS to get any drops from them. I imagine many people are getting the ‘dungeon completed’ notice and just leaving without even realizing that there was a boss.
  • There is no semblance of excitement about receiving the cool items. The same ones just drop over and over. Personally, I care about the game economy and hope that it ends up being robust, but either way it takes the fun out of the loot hunt.
  • Seeing a pile of about 50 corpses of the same dead boss is somewhat immersion-ruining. I don’t know why their corpses stick around so long, but I assume it has to do with many people having full bags and thus leaving the crappy loot on the boss’s dead body, meaning that it can’t be cleared from the ground.

really hope Zenimax changes this to the usual ‘good loot table on first kill and crappy thereafter’ scheme. If you agree, please upvote for visibility. If not and you prefer this to stay the way it is, then discuss in the comments below. However, I think it’s quite clear that it’s not ideal at the moment.
